Leo Santamarina, M.D. - Director, Keystone Eye Associates Retinal Care Center

Leo Santamarina, M.D., a Board Certified Ophthalmologist is a highly respected and experienced vitreo-retinal physician and surgeon.  Prior to joining Keystone Eye Associates, he served as Director of Vitreoretinal Services at Drexel University College of Medicine and Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Santamarina graduated Brown University Magna Cum Laude.  He completed his Medical School training at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where he received Honors in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Ophthalmology Research.  After completing a residency in internal medicine, Dr. Santamarina went on to complete his Residency in Ophthalmology at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn and a Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at Tulane University of Louisiana.

Dr. Santamarina is a part time clinical instructor for the ophthalmology residents at Temple University.  In addition to his teaching activities, Dr. Santamarina is a former scientific reviewer for the peer review journal, Ophthalmology.  He has participated in clinical studies as both an Investigator and a Sub-Investigator.

Dr. Santamarina has experience with the latest vitreoretinal medical and surgical techniques including intravitreal injections and sutureless vitrectomy surgery.  He provides medical and surgical care for patients with Diabetes, Macular Degeneration, Uveitis, Retinal Tears and Detachments and many other Retinal diseases.
